Elec & Eltek and RoHS
Inadequately treated e-waste poses environment and health risks. In January 2003, European Commission therefore issued the RoHS directive in order to tackle the increasing e-waste and to reduce the impact to the environment. Elec & Eltek fully recognized the need to manage the use of chemical substances to meet RoHS requirement and have developed the following measures:
To establish internal management systems and restrict the use of hazardous substances.
To use environmental friendly materials (I.e. Halogen free material, lead free process) to replace the use of hazardous substances.
To apply RoHS testing to our products, materials and packaging to control the hazardous substances. |

What is RoHS
The directive on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The objective is to increase the recycling or re-use of electrical products. It also requires heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium and flame retardants such as polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) to be substituted by safer alternatives. |
